Privacy Policy

When you leave a comment on a post or recipe, we collect the details you provide (like your name, email, and comment text), as well as your IP address and browser information. This helps us detect spam and maintain a secure site.

If you use a Gravatar account, an anonymized string (a hash) from your email may be sent to Gravatar to display your profile picture next to your comment, once approved.

If you upload images to HomemadeBiteJoy, please avoid including location data (such as EXIF GPS). Other visitors might be able to download and extract that information.

We use cookies to improve your experience on the site. Here’s how:

  • If you comment on a post, you can choose to save your name and email in cookies so you don’t have to retype them later. These cookies last for one year.
  • Visiting the login page (if enabled) may set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. It disappears when your browser is closed.
  • If you log in, cookies will store your login info and preferences. Login cookies last for two days, or two weeks if you select “Remember Me.” Logging out removes them.
  • When editing or publishing a post, a cookie may be set with the post ID. It expires after 24 hours and contains no personal information.

You can clear or manage cookies anytime through your browser settings.

Some posts may include embedded content like videos, social media, or images. These work just as they would on the original platform and may collect data, use cookies, or track your interactions — especially if you’re logged in to that service.

We never sell or trade your personal data. In some cases, such as password recovery, your IP address may appear in system-generated emails. Comments may be checked through automated spam protection services.

If you leave a comment, it and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This helps us recognize and approve future comments automatically.

If user accounts are available, any personal info in your profile is stored securely. You can view or update your data anytime (except for your username). Admins can also manage user info.

If you’ve left a comment or created an account, you can request a copy of the data we hold about you or ask us to delete it — unless we’re required to retain it for legal, administrative, or security purposes.

To request your data, please contact us at: [email protected]

Visitor comments may be screened using automated spam detection tools to keep the site safe and enjoyable for everyone.
